The 3rd stage is of a solider and initiate under influence of planet Mars. At this point the initiate is proving his warrior quality, in prevoius stages he has shown his lack of interest in materialism and his love for Mithra.

If this stage is carried in group rather than the meditation. Then the following can be added. The initiate should be kneeling down and have his/her hand tied by chicken entrails, and blindfolded. Then on point of a sword a crown will be offer for the initiate to wear, he/she will refuse this and say: "Mithra is my crown". The bonds are cut by single stroke from the sword.

At this stage branding of initiates was carried out, a less permeanent and less damageing way, could be to pour hot wax from a candle onto the body!!!
